La bibliographie est particulièrment abondante en ce qui concerne l’introduction adagio, qui a fait couler beaucoup d’encre depuis la fin du XVIIe siècle. Plusieurs citations tirées de ces textes polémiques mettent en évidence, au-delà de l’aspect anecdotique, une tension entre des approches à prétention normative et d’autres qui se veulent seulement descriptives. Bibliographical references that concern the adagio introduction are particularly numerous ; most of them have been written since the end of the XVIII th century. Several quotations from these polemical texts evidence, behind the anecdote, a tension between normative claims and approaches of a more descriptive intention.
